John was admitted as a lawyer in 2007. He joined CCK in 2016 as a Senior Associate. He is noted for his pragmatic approach to disputes and commercial negotiations.
John is a specialist in construction and engineering law, with a particular focus on disputes and security of payment matters. He also regularly advises on tenders and contracts for building projects.
Immediately before joining CCK, John was the Legal Practice Director of MBA SA Legal, a law firm associated with the Master Builders Association. In that role, John acted for a range of contractors, subcontractors, principals and consultants. He was also involved in the Association’s policy and advocacy work relating to construction contracts, security of payment, and other matters affecting building industry participants.
Earlier in his career, John undertook a secondment with a major construction joint venture to investigate claims arising from a multibillion dollar infrastructure project.
John also has considerable expertise in general commercial litigation, dispute resolution and insolvency law. In 2018, he was listed as a ‘Rising Star’ in those areas by Doyles Guide.
John’s capability as a commercial lawyer is rounded by experience working on major commercial transactions and tutoring in contract law.
