Construction and engineering

We practise extensively in building and construction law.  We cover the full range of services that companies in the construction industry may require including drafting and reviewing contracts, assisting in the tender and negotiation process, and advising on management of delay claims, extension of time claims, progress claims and security of payment claims.

  • Construction and Engineering Disputes

We have a particular specialty in the efficient resolution of large and complex construction, engineering and building disputes. We do this by working closely with our clients, and by drawing on all relevant areas of commercial law, which many lawyers who focus solely on construction law do not contemplate or consider. We assist our clients to deal with any issues or disputes that arise during the course of a construction project so as to minimise ongoing disputes. We assist with delay and extension of time claims, and progress claims throughout Australia.

  • Security of Payment

We are experienced in assisting our clients with security of payment claims throughout Australia.  We have managed significant claims in many States and advise on payment claims or adjudication proceedings.

  • Tenders and Contracts

We have experience and capabilities in all types of building and construction law contracts, including drafting or reviewing contracts for design and construct, or supply and install, or consultant services. We can draft or advise on associated documents relating to construction projects, including joint venture agreements and tripartite agreements.

Technology & intellectual property

Technology and intellectual property comprise a broad range of technical fields relating to engineering, science, information technology and all forms of innovation.  Legal work in that field requires lawyers who are experienced enough to understand and to adapt to the specific circumstances of each case, and who have the ability to grasp technical information, drawings and expert reports quickly.

  • Information Technology

We have extensive experience working with clients within IT and high-tech industries.  We understand the technical issues to be able to provide advice, guidance on contracts, and help to resolve disputes.  We also help our other commercial clients with their legal needs where they relate to information technology, such as service or hosting agreements.

  • Intellectual Property

We advise on intellectual property issues (including the steps required to obtain protection), commercialisation and licensing, and dispute resolution. This includes advice on copyright, designs, business names, trade marks and patents.  We have also represented our clients in numerous Court proceedings to protect their interests.
